  Sabaragamuwa Lesson study project to introduce Lesson study to 500 schools  
 

Phase 1. Video conferencing workshop to train 24 schoolteachers on Lesson study

The above workshop, the first of its kind to be ever held in Sri Lanka , where video conferencing is used to connect consultants in different countries was successfully conducted on 14,15,28 and 29 th of October in Cololmbo.

The workshop's significance can be judged by the fact the Five National Television Networks carried an unprecedented coverage of the program as part of their news coverage.

The workshop's value was further highlighted by the fact the Chief Minister of the Sabaragamuwa province, honorable Maheepala Herath, traveled three hours to grace the opening ceremony as nthe chief guest

Dr. Rajee Amarasinghe of the California State University and Dr Kirthi premadasa of the University of Colombo were the trainers for this workshop.

The workshop which was a total success had to be run from early morning to noon in Sri Lanka and evening to well past midnight in the USA . The trainers, organizers and the participants put in a lot of sacrifice and effort to make this very important workshop work.

Resource Manual for the workshop:

The following book, which was written by Dr Rajee Amarasinghe and Dr. Kirthi premadadas and published in both English and Sinhala was used as the resource manual for the workshop and a copy was provided to all the teachers.
